Sustainability Is Over. Long live Regeneration.

Okay, I know that is a oxymoron.

My personal opinion is that sustainability is basically rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic.

If we'd been worrying about coffee cups and plastic straws like, 20 years ago, then maybe we'd be in with a chance at negotiating with the climate.

But as things stand: Climate Emergency 1: Humans 0

So, what do we do? Well luckily there are an increasing number of people who have Seen The Light and are advocating a MASSIVE SYSTEMS SHIFT to a #regenerative or #circulareconomy model. We have to be careful to ensure that any systems shift is #inclusive. Because frankly, vested interests (the 1%), apart from self-preservation, are usually not that interested in reducing the yawning gap between them and the 99%.

However, we have an opportunity at this time of #coronacrisis to address #inequality by using models such as the iconic Kate Raworth #Doughnut (below) which has a social foundation and an ecological ceiling. Where a regenerative and distributive economy needs to operate is the space in between, i.e. the safe and just space for humanity.

More on this in another post.
